TRAIL REGIONS

RepublicSouth or North Republic? The town was partially moved not so long ago. Houses, Churches and Businesses traveled a few miles away.

Chocolay TownshipChocolay, a.k.a. Harvey, is named after Charles T. Harvey who owned a house here and is most famous for being the builder of the Sault Locks. Many sawmills were built along the Chocolay River to provide lumber for the burgeoning harbor, towns and railroads.

HumboldtMines dating back to the 1870's and contribution to the extraction of ore from rocks.

Ely TownshipBlueberry Mine, Michigan Gold Mine, Greenwood Mine, Barnes Hecker Mine.

IshpemingThe U.S. Ski Hall of Fame and the Cliff's Shaft Mine Museum reveal two different areas of history.

Negaunee TownshipNothing will get you more aquainted with Iron Ore Heritage than the Michigan Iron Ore History Museum.

NegauneeSee the start of the 'Old Plank Road', or the 'Old Bank Building', or the 'Old Survey Marker'.

Marquette TownshipOff of the beaten path you will find the site of the Morgan Kiln started in 1863.

MarquetteVisit the historic City Hall and Court House while staying at the beautiful Landmark Inn.
